OK - appreciate all your help guys.
So it sounds like the way for me to go is; - standard BA XR6T engine ( I think it comes with computer - will have to confirm) - intercoooler - probably a standard XR6T or a larger unit off ebay? - I'm thinking a 2 1/2" or 3" exhaust system? - Flash tuner to enable tuning And remembering my standard gearbox might not like the power - do I upgrade that too ? Is it cheaper to slightly beef up an unbroken box or won't make any difference? (preventative medicine) What about things like fuel surge tanks (seen these on ebay)? Are they totally unnecessary for a sub 300 rwkw application? Will my existing in-tank XR6 NA fuel pump be up to the task or is having the surge tank with it's separate pump (Bosch 044) going to deliver all I need? Cheers

if your sticking to a budget....
buy a 2nd hand XR6T exhaust, dont worry about going bigger, ebay $100-$200 5" high flow cat, $200 f6 or monza cooler, will do the job ok, $200-$300 a walbro intank pump, $150 fuel injectors $350 if you stay under 270rwkw your valve springs, bottom end, and gearbox should be ok, but stranger things have happened! you dont need a surge tank either

Wow - do they do these in Bionic?
http://www.atomicperformanceproducts.com/698gta_complete.html Thanks for the input - both FastXR and SlowXR6 How strong is the std BA XR6T engine then - you think 270RWKW is the limit? What I am scared of is all the items being put together and it generating more - then blowing something. I guess if I stick to the standard exhaust I should be safe?

These motors should see 270rwkw very safe mate.
If it pops at 270rwkw then you picked the wrong tuner

Cheers Hey mate if you are getting it flashed you wont need an xr6t computer but you will need a manual boost control. Or if you wanna use the xr6t computer make sure you get all the extra wiring loom to suit and the sensor for the intercooler pipe and you will also have to trailer the car to Ford before you can start the car so they can change the vin to suit your car.

Really? Even with a mated computer I will have to go to Ford to start it? Sounds odd - I know nothing about friggin' auto computers. I am getting real close to this now - mid month pay cheque and need to cut a deal. Will be speaking to Darren at FTG first thing tomorrow.

If you mean mated to the engine then yes you will still have to got to Ford or a tuner that can match the Vin to your BCM. If the comp you are putting in it mated to your BCM then you will be fine.

You will not need to go to ford for anything.
You use the stardard BA turbo PCM and buy a xflash3 from capa and have them turn the security off in the pcm. I used the standard BA turbo piping in mine and it fits with two mods to the E-series body, which if you neatly are likely to go unnoticed by anyone not looking for them. The only section of exhaust that you can use is the dump and cat, you'll have to make a custom cat back exhaust. You'll need a 023 Bosch intank fuel pump, several people have already done it and make good power with them. just have to watch you fuel level. (fuel surge below 1/4) I know two standard BA xr6t motors that punch out 340rwkw daily without issue. (both tuned at blue power) If your going single pipe, 3 1/2" but if you can get several standard exhaust like i did, you can cut them up and make a custom twin 2 1/4" system for you car. Any other questions PM me, otherwise flick through my project thread to see what i did.

But if he does it that way he wont have any security on his car would he? Would be pritty easy to steal and would be illegal in the case of getting a roadworthy.
