hi everyone i havnt been on here in a while but now im back with a problem not a mental one but a car one.
Friday night i dropped a mate home then when i left i gave it a bit in first gear got to about 3500rpm when the engine let out a loud bang then stalled.
The engine still turns over like normal but wont kick and start, theres no sign of a blown head and it still has spark. when i pulled the rocker cover off everything looked normal.
any ideas what may have gone bang?

Take the Tappet cover off and check the timing chain, my son did the same thing and the problem turned out to be the chain?

I'm not sure if timing chains tend to jump cogs, but sounds very similar to a problem I had years ago with the Laser. Turned out to be the timing belt ( in those ) had jumped a couple of cogs and thrown everything out of whack. Might be worth thinking about. :?:

I should have also added the chain had snapped not moved a few cogs

Cheers
