didn't someone put 2 engines in the one car? I think it was in an Audi making it an all wheel drive. Looked crazy.

Yep, that's the Tx5 V6, KL-ZE engine. That would be wicked fun in a laser!
Cheers ToranaGuy

I think Jay Leno has one too. Oh, and those old gits like me, remember Blowbak 2? Holden ute that originally had a blown sb chev but kept getting hassled by cops, so he put the chev in the tray - then, because he now had an empty engine bay, put a 253 in it as well - odd choice of motors, must have got the 253 cheap at a boat anchor sale...

Mines a TON of fun to drive, but crap top end. But with that V6? Wooooo Hooooo!!! Hmmmmmmm Wonder if there's any V6 Couriers or Explorers at the wreckers?? Can those V6's be used in fwd? Otherwise they wouldn't be legal in a laser, need a fwd v6 like the 92 on fwd v6 Telstar Tx5. Cheers ToranaGuy Eunos (Mazda) has a 1.8L V6 I'm quite sure. KL-ZE is also a Mazda engine. |

KL-ZE is also a Mazda engine.[/quote] A 1.8 v6 would be pretty compact wouldn't it? KL-ZA is a 2.5 used in Tx5 / 626. Cheers ToranaGuy

Here are the specs for the engine in this.
Wikipedia wrote: The 2.5 L (2497 cc) KL family uses an 84.5 mm bore and 74.2 mm stroke. It includes the Japan-only KL-ZE, which produced 199 hp (149 kW) and 165 ft·lbf (224 Nm).The K-series all have a 7,000 RPM redline with 7500 RPM limiter, which given the engine design is conservative. In a FWD that weighs in at next to F-All!!! Damn............ That's the way I would go. Attachment: v6 laser 2.jpg Attachment: v6 laser 1.jpg And I am Very tempted. i know it not a big straight six & it wont be RWD but..
A 1.8l twin cam turbo tx3 laser engine from the same year model would well be the easyest conversion & best bang for ur money cause it all bolts in. the Australian engine has almost as much power in stock form as the v6 u speak of Esteven8, a bit more boost & a exhaust & ud have more power. & then there are the 2 different JAP versions of the 1.8l, both more |
