Hi all
I have noticed that I have the side of the rear tyres rubbing on the body work of my Ute. I know that this can be fixed using a panhard rod. I was also told years ago from a drag racing friend that panhard rods work better on utes then watts links. While under the Ute doing some maintenance I seen 2 brackets on the chassis rails. Are these for a rear sway bar or to mount a watts link? Has anyone fitted watts links to a au ute or should i just get a panhard rod? |

neither,
au utes are leaf spring...completely different suspension set up to a sedan with 4 link with wats link ..or pan hard rod.. if the rear is moving around? look at the bushes at the front and rear of the springs... |

I have seen a lot of utes over the years with panhard rods fitted. Most of the owners like myself like to drive them hard and not just in a shraight line. My thinking is if a panhard rod is fitted and a load is placed in the tray the rod would be trying to push the diff out from under the ute. This is why i am thinking a whatts link setup would be better.

they never came from the factory with either panhard or watts, so theres nothing there to help you fit them.
watts link is better, you are right in regards to panhard pushing the diff one way when height changes. not sure why anyone would ever say panhard rod is better in any situation? easier to fit is the only thing i can think of. you could fit a diff hat off an AU live axle sedan to get an attachment point on the diff, then it's just a matter of figuring out the attachment to the body (probably the hard bit ) i would check for issues under there first though before going to the effort of doing it. is it definitely the diff moving around and not just a wheel/tyre fitment issue?
