What are you converting? Manual trans?

No you can't put it in your XR8. Unless you get a custom bellhousing

I6 T5 input shaft is shorter than V8 input shaft.

You need to be a bit more specific than "i got a conversion kit of a 6 cylinder ef"

You can use the pedal box and pedals, but you will need to either get an EB/D/F/L V8 manual T5, or you can call CRS (Castle Maine Rod Shop) and they can supply you with a custom bellhousing that will let you use the 6 cylinder T5.

You will also need to either buy a manual ECU, or get Jason from TI Performance to burn you a J3 chip, about $130 i think? And you just plug this into your ECU.

Or you can wire up the Auto trans loom to "trick" the ecu into thinking the auto is still there, although this is the dodgiest method and i recommend the J3 chip.

There are a couple of V8 boxes on eBay at the moment, i was looking at an EF V8 T5 a couple of days ago for $750.

If you really need to, you can use an AU V8 T5, but you will need to shorten your driveshaft and cut about 5cm out of the trans tunnel to fit the shifter.

No. Input shaft length is different too.

Yes you will be able to use your 6 cylinder T5 with a custom bellhousing. Will need a custom tailshaft to make up the length as the custom bellhousing brings the gearbox forward to make up for the length of the shorter input shaft.
