Hey guys,
Drove the new setup for the first time in the wet this morning and realised I need to get the Lokka in there ASAP, but don't want to chuck it into the 3.08 that is in there currently. As the car is still a daily, changing just the gear set will be tricky, so am thinking of tracking down a complete diff with the ratio I need (also will allow me to clean it up and paint it) But, I'm not sure if anything came out with 3.45's in an single spinner? LSD is no good for the Lokka. So does anyone know what ratios came with what models? eg: Fairmont etc I'm guessing XR6's came out with LSD's so no good there, but am hoping maybe some of the upspec models had open wheel higher ratios? Anyone. |

the EF fairmont came out with 3.23 gears, not sure if an o/w 3.45 was available
doesnt the lokka still need to be setup correctly with new bearings and shims etc? and u would be looking for a set of lower ratio gears i may know of someone with bare 3.45 gears, no centre etc then just grab a diff from upi, minus axles etc would be cheap enough |

some AU's came with 3.45 open centres. My XR8 had a 3.45LSD, a standard open centre bolts in to the 3.45 gears. bTW, I have some 3.45 gears for sale, thread coming in the next few days....

From what i have read, the Lokka can be setup without needing a diff spreader, which is needed if changing ratio. I have the disc of images done, will have to work out a time to catch up soon. |

With your setup that revs to 6k plus I'd go for 3.7s or similar (from ebay) and drop them with your lokka into your current diff.

Sorry to side track the thread somewhat, but I have a related question.
I've heard that the gears are all interchangable with the different housings except for the 3.08:1 housing, which was slightly different. Is that correct? I've got a lokka going in some time soon and I need to get some 3.7:1 gears and want to know if i need to find a new housing or not. (I've currently get a 3.08 diff) |

have fitted 3.27 gears into 2.92 housings....no probs.
The 2.77 housing is different.

Have had a bit of clunking on take off, had a look underneath tonight, diff has a huge amount of play
So time to decide on ratio and put the lokka in, but, depending on what you read, there may or may not be a problem with housings? Currently it has the stock EF 3:08 single spinner, I have a brand new 4WD Systems lokka ready to go in. Wanting to put in 3:7's, will they fit into the 3:08 housing? and anyone have a good source for the gears? |
