I think he is talking about the 6 speed shifter. By memory i dont think it fits.

I assumed that as well, I was waiting for him to come back being more specific...
Assuming is bad sometimes though. |

If you are talking 6 spd shifter into 4 speed, it's will be far from a straight swap, but if you were keen enough, you could make it happen i reckon.
If you're just talking 4 spd to 4spd, eg maybe a leather xr one, then straight swap.

I have seen both and I can't see any mechanical reason why not, there could be electrical reasons why not though. I assume that because the 6 speed was an option on BF then it would make sense the shifter mechanism was the same between 4 speed and 6 speed. I have seen enay listings suggesting the 6 speed shifter also fits BA.

The 6 speed auto shifter is totally different. The 4 speed auto handle uses a pull up type system to change gears and the 6 speed one uses a push down type. The actual mechanism is different and the shifter plus surround.

Hi,
Mechanically the ZF Shifter is the same and will be a clean fit into the BA shifter spot (Simply remove bottom assembly, as the BF centre console is higher). The electronics are different and so is the gearbox cable, has bigger end connectors, so the BA gearbox cable will NOT fit the ZF shifter. I am currently working on a MOD for this, and only have the gearbox cable to convert. Shifter works fine as I have made a conversion circuit board with the BA electronics to fit the ZF shifter surround. Keeping the ZF shifter gear position lighting. When I finish, I’ll post step by step instructions. |

Any info would be great. |
