hey all just a quick question, has anyone tried making ther own custom tail lights i was thinkin about doing it rather than just tintin the lights or gettin a set of clear light

if you can find a build thread by a mamber called "fiend" he put VR commodore wagon tail lights in his EF wagon tail lights.... didnt look that flash :lol:

data_mine (or MRE-50L...cant remember ?) has also made a set of custom tail lights for his EF a few years ago.

ah thats right, i remember now. data_mine did the LED tail lights.

i have made my own au wagon led taillights as well as au and ba projector hid headlights

have you got many pictures of the process and is it much of a challenge? also anyone know the legalities of making lights. I know some rules but yeah if anyone knows of other less known ones i could use some tips please

as long as you don't affect vision and brightness of it and all reflectors are kept, you should be fine

well it is also handy if you download the pdf files so that you can just refer to it whenever needed

Well you could meet all the requirements, but they'd still be illegal until you pass testing - which requires 10 finished sets be sent to the testing authority.

heres my tail lights . I moulded a clear lens off the original first . Then found some leds that would fit in . The 2 little lights are my brake lights and are red luxeon led lights ( the same as you get in DRL's but red) then i moulded up the surround for the lights and painted it. come to think of it , it would have been a much easier job if i had have put a clear lens on the standard light instead of the clear frosted lenses and just used coloured globes
