sorry if this is a noob question but i did a search and not much popped up.
What is the difference between ea clutch and ef el clutch?? which is better ?? and if i have a t5 out of an ea can i change to ef el clutch?? Thanks in advance |

ea clutch is smaller 240mm and only has 3 bolts holding the pressure plate to the flywheel..
the ef clutch is larger 255mm and has 6 bolts holding the pressure plate to the flywheel, much stronger clutch.. but to change over to the ef clutch, you need to change to an ef flywheel.. |

Later clutch bolts to the flywheel with 6 bolts instead of 3. Later ones are better.
The flywheel is different. To change from 3 bolt to 6 bolt change the flywheel and clutch. |

you can use a flywheel from eb2 to au these had the 255mm clutch and 6 bolt flywheel...

or you can get holes driled and taped in the flywheel by a machining shop

Here are some pics of a pair of flywheels. One is from an EA and the other from an ED.
I drilled and tapped holes in the EA one to fit a 6 bolt clutch.....but it also has holes further out, but aren't tapped.....like for a V8....weird. The bolt spacing is different between the EA and the ED. The ED ones are more evenly spaced. I have the EA flywheel and clutch in my ED now....and have no probs with it.
