i jsut upgraded the low series dash to the high series (fairlane dash) and everything works excepts the fuel gauge that just reads full dose the ghia/fairlane dash require a different sender? or is my gauge stuffed?
i have a few clusters that the fuel guages do work is it possible to swap the guage over?

if it shows full always on one cluster but then reads accurately on others it means that one cluster is screwed

maybe you have a self filling tank....wouldnt that be nice.
but i would think an earth on the sender...can make it read full.

now if you wanna change a fuel gauge from one cluster to another they have to be from the same series - low, mid or high. they won't interchange. they are different sizes

yeh so i noticed, looks like a trip to the wreckers and an hour sitting in a car getting the thing out or they will charge an arm for the whole cluster

Did it occur to you that the wiring could be different and the fuel signal could be on a different pin... Which it is. These gauges generally only go full deflection when they have no signal applied to them. {USERNAME} wrote: ahh you know anything about how the door ajar system is wired in? Big job. Quite a few parts required and a fair bit of extra wiring. Its a combination of: {DESCRIPTION} and {DESCRIPTION} |

hi yeh i worked out the door sensors all except the boot earth because the boot light and interor light looms have been joined somewhere to run the stupid alarm system and it earths when the interior light comes on any idesa or would it jsut be easier to run a new power line to the boot light (from the amp lines in the boot already)
also the line in for the (power/econo) switch colour is different to the guide the fuel guage i think it could be stuffed as iv followed the guide on te cluster change and the only one left is the yellow and green and on both clusters its the fuel sender wire cheers

yeh i cut the plug off and resolderd the wires in the workshop book for the fuels guage wiring on the low series it states the yellow/green wires comes from the "FUEL SWITCH" but on the diagram for the high series digitle cluster it shows it as "FUEL SENDER"
dose the sender in the tank use a different voltage in the gli/s-pack to the ghia/lane models could this be why its reading full?
