I'm lookng at buying a 2001 AU2 XR8 Ute. Redbook list 4 models fro that year (2 x manual and 2 x auto) Somewhere during 2001 the AU2 XR8 went from 185kw to 200kw. Redbook list the same Chassis code and the same engine code.

How can I tell which engine it has?

By the build date. Is it a AUII XR8 Pursuit ute, or standard AUII XR8 ute?

AUII XR8 Pursuit Ute with a build date of January 2001 - March 2001 had 200kw.
AUII XR8 Ute with a build date of April 2001 - March 2002 had 200kw.
AUIII XR8 Ute all had 200kw aswell.

The 200kw has a 'hand built by' badge on the drivers side rocker cover, 185kw doesn't.

Thanks for the reply, I think its a standard ute (assuming the pursit came with a hartop) It has been debadge and I haven't actually seen the car yet (2 hour drive to get to it).

I will ask for some more photos including the endinge bay.
