i brought a set of wheels off the net that where ment to be off a 2005 falcon anyways turns out the rims are 8" wide 18" high and have a offset of 45mm thay should be 35mm offset iirc but anyways thay dont hit or rub but what clearance is exceptable between the wheel and stubaxle/strut assembly ? and what is legal in the way of tracking ?

about 3-4mm clearence between the wheel and stubaxle worries me for some reason, if the wheel bearings loose a little tention is it going to be enough to lock the wheel, not pritty at 110, my missus and kids travel in the car most days in 100 zones.

3-4mm is heaps - you've got a fkn massive issue if something hits with that much clearance bud.

P45 on the front of an AU is NOT RECOMMENDED! Max is P40. That offset is for Jap vehicles.

If its hitting on the inside of the wheel you could try a spacer? But i'm not sure of the legality of those things. But the BA's have a sheild to stop brake dust, if you fit one of them might give you some extra room, but not sure if they would fit an AU or not never tried it myself

decide to keep them
rang around today spoke to a mechanic that does roadies and a tyre tech and they both said if they dont hit or rub then all is good .

dont get all butt hurt about it krisisdog, i took into account what you and others said but the responce was mixed and like i said its the family ride so i want to be 100% sure its safe.

Haha mate its alright. I wouldnt feed anyone here s**t in regards to suspension - I've got a fair clue about our falcons, and like you said its very important to yours and your family's safety.

Hi,
I brought a set of 16"mags for my AU. The mags are off a Mitsubishi Magna. The stud pattern is the same, the centre hole had to be bored out to it sits on the rim. I was told there is a 5mm difference . Ford Falcon originals are 35mm offset, mine is 40mm offset. Do I need to have wheel spaces placed on the disc, if so, does it need to be 5mm thick? Any info on this would be good. |
