Well the AU was sold the other day. I'm still yet to take a look at the EL but i found a BA for 7k which i talked down to 6.5 if i buy it.
The BA has 18' mags has been lowered and has a sony S Type sound system in it and the body is in mint condition from what i have seen... Will be going in to look at both on wednesday... Once again thanks for the input guys

Get the ba. A s**t ba will be better than an eb , el or au with similar k's.
Ba motors are less than $500 so it's not like they are more expensive to repair or maintain. An au is far better than an e series except for the looks. Ive had a few e series and since getting my au I would not go back unless it was to build a lighter falcon based drag car. |

Hey ninja, how are ya?
Well there's a lot of views here. Personally, if I had easy access to 6 g, I'd pour it into the eb. Fix the head gasket, I just did mine myself for $450 which included gasket set, all misc needed, and getting the rear galley re welded and the head machined. I borrowed a timing light and a torque wrench. Then find a secondhand panel or try beating your own. They key is hunting your parts, find people with cars sitting around or parts in sheds. It's not what you know it's who you know. For the other 5g I'd get an exaust, call wreckers and ask if they have pieces of 2.5 exhaust (eg yeah we got a tail pipe but that's all, or centre piece, whatever) lower it, convert it to manual if you like that, hunt a nice set of rims (don't HAVE to have a set of fully sik 19's) whatever you like. Redo bushes, wheel bearings etc. For 6g you could do quite a bit. OR if you aren't that fussed about modifying your EB, use the 6g (as I said go hunting) to freshen up your engine (recondition or rebuild) new bushes and suspension, reco gearbox and you have your same EB you love ready for another 10 years of family service. One good point made was the one about wether going to an upgrade will put you in debt or not. That should be a big factor on your decision. Finally. If you really want a "new" car I'd go an e series. AU's are a little too modern for my taste. Although I wouldn't say no to a series 3 XR.

Go the E-series man,
If you got an XT and did it up it would look a bit try-hard in my opinion. Whereas if you get a XR, it already has the appeal of being special. Plus the BA XT's don't have as much character. If you make the XR look mint, it will have a better resell value than an XT too. at the end of the day its your decision, just make sure you make the right one! Good luck

Well i spent a little on the EB, just enough to hopefully sell it for a grand maybe 1.2 - 1.5 if im lucky, it still needs the bonnet and L/H guard to be panelled or replaced as for the new car hunt i found a really good condition BA XT with only 160,000kms on the clock for 6k, going to have a look at it tomorrow.
I WOULD go for an XR6 BA/BF if i could find one in my price range but thats just not going to happen lol, cheapest one i could find was 13k but alas i only have half that lol... If anyone thinks they are interested in buying it as a project car i will post a few pics on here tomorrow. Anyway once again thanks for your inputs. ~Ninja

About the au engine, im not sure what its called but when it drops the water it shuts down 3 or 4 cylinders and fires 1 off at a time so you can keep driving 20 or below ks an hour and in return helps to keep the engine cool
