You're asking us what we would use, other than the appropriate open ended spanner?

Well that bottom nut looks like it'll only take an open ended spanner so it's likely just a case of how much force you can put behind it.

Might take into work and get them to have a go. On the plus side, it cleaned up well. |

The easiest way is to bolt the lower to an engine, then turn the bottom nut anti-clockwise.
If you can't do that, then stand the lower intake on a large block of wood vertically on it's short end (cylinder 4 & 8 end), with the fitting at the top. Put the spanner horizontal to the ground & on the nut all the way, and give it a sharp smack with a hammer in an anti-clockwise direction. haven't found on yet that won't move with either of these techniques.

Be very careful when removing that nut. It is no longer available from ford. Also looks like you have damaged the heater hose judging by the almost 180 degree bend on it.

Can someone confirm that the heater hose is a different connection on the standard intake? Also is there somewhere I can find info on what needs to change when installing this?
Cheers |

no its the same, EBXR8380 was suggesting to turf that fitting and do something else, not that the thread in the explorer was different to the HO.
actually the one on an explorer, if it's off an AU, won't have the fittings for the coolant lines to the EGR anyway...

Ah good, was concerned for a moment there. It is from an AU as well. |
