I have recently purchased a bf xr6 with the 6 speed auto in it.

When the box changes from 1-2 it lags a bit and revs. Is this normal? It mainly happens when you take of slow, if you put your foot down harder on take off it doesn't..

Happens from 2-3 but you can barely notice it..

hi mate, the 6 speed autos take off in2nd gear when you only use light throttle for a smoother take off. when you sink the gas a bit harder than they will take off in 1st/kick back to 1st.
also how much did you pay for the auto service? these thing take around $600 just for the oil! so if you were charged less than that id make sure the right oil is in it as well. but it sound like its just normal operation

The 6 speed autos use a full synthetic oil. Not the stuff we use in E series. See if it has the right oil in it like what was mentioned.

The service cost about 500 or 600 I don't remember but it was expensive even with mates rates.. so it should be normal to rev a little between 1st and 2nd?. From what I have researched 1st is a very low gear so there is a bit difference there fore the engine needs to rev to be able to change the gears?
