hi all i got a Wheel allignment on my xg ute with new tyres i got and it had a slight pull to the right, next day i was driving it along a rough road with steep hills and drops and when i come over the hill the allighnment went to hell, wore out two old stockies that had about 70% tread down to the wires driving home from warrnambool anyway took it back and they had another go at the allignment got it back and it still pulls to the right, theres play in the steering wheel, what part usally wears out to cause castering while driving? i suggested worn steering box or rack to them and said the wheel allignment would still work

G;Day.
I would check your radias rod bushes & all nuts/bolts securing the rods. Flogged out radias bushes will cause caster under acceleration & braking. |

ahh ill put it up on the weekend and have a look around and see if any of the rods are worn
am i right in saying you cant do a true wheel allighnment with any badly worn bushes rods rack steering box or uni joint?

100% my friend.
Worn bushes, rack ends, tie rods & ball joints will all put you allignment out due to excessive movment. Also check the bolts holding the rack/box in. make sure they arnt loose or torn out. |

Unbelievable..
 .. whoever did the wheel alignment should have picked that up and refused to do the alignment until you had the issues sorted. Money grabbing by the sound of it. You didn't take it too JAX did you?All the best with the repair mate. MITCHY

nah done it the local kmart but some guy who didnt want to be there and wouldnt belive me that the allighnment was gone hes comes back from the test drive and is like how did you even get it here

Sounds like your camber pins slipped, very common on dirt if they are worn.
get some Kmac heavy duty pins fitted. The factory ball joints on XG Falcons had play in them by 50,000km. Also the castor bushes were too soft to prevent uneven tyre wear in most cases. How many K's has the car done?
