Hey all,
I'm toying with the idea of a new, more powerful engine for the Laser. At the moment she's just got the stock 1.6L carby fed manual, fun as hell to drive, but.. ![]() ![]()

if your going to the effort of the KL V6 you may as well go a little bit further and go a duratech v6

The Duratec? I'm not sure if that can be done without a lot of extra hassle. But the more ideas the merrier. ![]()

No. While the engines ARE similar in many aspects there would be a fair bit of modding involved to make it work, also the power output on the Duratec 25 v KLZE is basically the same. So on a $$ spent to power gained basis not worthwhile. Nice idea though JOSE. Keep em coming Guys ![]()

mate had an 87 with a 1.8 in it. tuned with motec to 18psi r35 or r45, cant remember. estimated 217kw at the block. thing weighted nothing & f**k went. still had lag, but the 1.8 got things moving well before the boost came in.

That's what I'm looking for!! Was it a 5 door hatch like mine and had the engine swapped over? Or a TX3 that come with the 1.8 and was worked at a later date? Cause if anyone has had experience with these sort of swaps (From a 1.6 carb to a 1.8EFI Turbo or KLZE) I'd love to hear from you. The V6 appeals to me 'cause it's something a little different, would go like a rocket, sound awesome and would keep people guessing 'just what the hell is in that thing?' But on the other side of the coin the 1.8 Turbo would be a more straightforward conversion and can give just as much go, but it's a fairly common swap. Not necessarily a bad thing though, parts would be easier to get etc... Hmmmm decisions, decisions............. ![]()

think it was just a 1.6efi convert with stock internals on the 1.8.
was a 3 door AWD. Have a look around fordlaser.com they are a lot more specific in to the modifications of the lasers & 323's
