Hi guys,
Just wondering if someone can tell me the normal resistance on the tank sender units on a BF egas ute as one of mine is stuffed? Also has anyone else had an issue with these dying? Foggy |

Should be written on it but if its the same as sedan then from memory 0-187ohm.

2 different gauge senders ... both different resistance ranges.
I actually found one of my old AU ones the other day ... and I think I have a new one somewhere else I had as a spare. There's a 0-90 I think ... and a 2-176ohm gauge ... but I can't be 100% sure on those. APA make them ... but i think you can only get them from Ford ... at about $140+ each.

APA make them E series run those resistances - the first one is for LED gauges, the second one is for the instrument cluster gauge. As mentioned, check the resistance range written on the dial face. Take it off (only held on by phillipshead screws), compare with some old taxi's at a self serve wrecker - might be the same. The earlier ones I've seen are made by Axiom, but if the resistance range and shape are the same, should work fine.

Thanks for the help guys.
I got 1 from ford for $115. Mechan1k was correct in that there are 2 different ranges as the righthand tank is smaller than the lefthand one. If anyone is interested the part number for this unit is BAC9305BW. |

Nice ... I found my receipt a little while ago with the different part numbers on them.
The gauge sender itself actually has the Ohm range printed on the front of the sender. The buggers aren't cheap ... and you need to use a magnet on the sender prior to fitting ... I think there was some fitting instructions around somewhere .... I remember reading them a while back myself.

Yeah i've had this prob too where the dials go dead all of a sudden then come back when they feel like it. Im also guessing its the sender but havent had a chance to look under the car yet (its a stock straight gas). Any advice on resolving this would be appreciated.

While trying to sort out which one of my senders was the problem I ended up bridging out 1 sender unit at a time with a 50 ohm resistor then driving for the day. When the faulty 1 was bridged I had a stable fuel gauge and no low fuel warning.
Hope this helps, Foggy |
