Hard Tonneau Cover Lock
i would like to know if anyone has converted the BF ute hard tonneau cover from Key locks to Electronic locks? it's a pain to unlock both sides of the cover with the keys, especially as i have to make sure i hold all the keys in my hand to avoid scratching to paintwork i have a 2007 Falcon Ute XR8 |

look for LIDLOK, they are fitting this type of system to exisitng lids

Hmm if your interested in doing a little work I noticed the mechanism in the ef's boot latch is fairly simple, and that may be able to altered to work with a tonneau cover possibly have it all work as once or something, run it off one transponder atleast set it up as if it's just a boot.
May not work because of springs and s**t and thing it's a different latch style but it may be alterable. Just a thought.

^^^^^That is a good way of thinking - I've looked at this for XH utes.
You could fit two E series boot solenoids in parallel, and run a wire or two back to the BEM in the dash. I know XH BEM's have the boot capability - it's just not wired up, don't know whether BA/BF utes have the same convention, this would decide the whole mod of course. If that's the case, you will need to get 2 sedan keyfobs for the boot function - maybe sell your existing keyfobs to keep down costs. Depending on what Lidlock charge for their setup, I think this way would be much cheaper - both methods still require wiring , etc.

i've taken greg's advice and looked into a LidLok. thanks.
i considered getting a boot release mechanism from a sedan. it would need to be able to operate both side latches at the same time, but would also need to lock down (both doable with the boot). the problem would be the area around the latch, trying to get the hardware mounted. in the end i decided it was just quicker to buy the lidlock system. |

I've got the tonneau release system installed (the lidlok). it works well enough but they hooked it up to the door release on the fob. so anytime i unlock the ute, it also unlocks the tonneau, which i then have to lock using the switch on the dash. i'll get them to d/c from the fob.
now a question... Does the ute share any of the boot release components of the sedan, or is it a completely different loom? (ie are they in the ute but redundant and missing just the hardware)? What i'd like to do is use a sedan fob with the boot release button for the tonneau cover. ideas and suggestions welcome. |

short term solution was to change the keypad from "one-click open all doors" to "one click drivers door, two clicks all doors", like my AU sedan. i believe this can be done by programming the keypad - holding both buttons when turning on ignition, or something like that.
