Hey guys,
I've got a 93 eb falcon 3.9l i6, its been running fine until last weekend when we swapped the gearbox, the car runs rough under load but idles more or less fine, then it stopped starting all together. Pulled the plugs and did a compression test readings are normal Plugs were fouled, cleaned them and it started. Drove it to the servo and it was fine on the way there but on the way back it was missing heavily under load. It seems like a ignition issue. My thoughts are it's a grounding issue, I've cleaned all contacts in the engine bay and run a second ground from the block to the negative terminal, hasn't fixed the issue. When the car plays up the the temperature gauge goes off the scale, when. The cars stone cold. Is there a common ground that may be shonky? This cars one more break Down away from the scrap yard, so please Help me save this car. |

Forgot to mention when it plays up the fuel gauge also goes
To no fuel and the starter motor trigger does not Work any more (tries to but cannot crank the starter) Seems like a dodgy ground, does anyone have a wiring diagram for these cars? where are the ground points |

check the map sensor hose hasnt come off, and there is usually a ground strap from the body to the bell housing bolt which you may have left off?

Hey mate, I checked the map sensor and replaced the hose just to be sure as it was a bit brittle, i also checked the vacuum passage wasn't blocked in the intake manifold (it was my first thought) and replaced the fuel pressure regulator hose as well. I may have forgot about the bell housing ground strap however, Thanks ill check that when i get home. Is it on the starter motor side or exhaust side? Does it go from the wiring loom to the gearbox or the body to the gearbox? This issue is very similar to one i had a few years ago when my grounding strap to the coil packs in my toyota broke. |

Fixed it,
It was a shonky termination near the battery terminal, cleaned all the plugs with metho and fixed it fixed a few other issues as well such as the fuel gauge not reading correctly. The car has been loosing efficiency and power for a while, seems to have picked up alot since fixing the ground. Anyway thanks for the help. |
