Probably a common question.
I'm looking at a typhoon body kit for my bf XT.
Obviously the front bar comes with dips for the XR style headlights and wont be compatible to the flat XT style headlights.
I'm pretty certain if i buy XR style headlights they will fit right on to my XT, really all im looking for is a 2nd opinion.

Edit: Apparently XR lights are too large for Typhoon body kits, so Typhoon lights are the go, still looking for a 2nd opinion though.

Mate check out the modded au/ba/bf thread in the exterior mods section, all your questions will be answered and the best thing is the pics, probably from about page 25 on is the more current stuff.

The advice i will give you is stay away from Phat Custom Kits, as for the xr headlights you can get the typhoon bar made to fit the XT headlights if you wanted to but only for bf mk1 - check out http://www.ssv.com.au they make the best quality parts.

As for the xr headlights not fitting the typhoon bar thats news to me, where did you find that out? i was under the impression ford used the same headlights

theres a mob on ebay that do Typhoon bars for standard XT headlights. might be an option and saves buying a second set of lights.

Just some more advice be careful buying cheap kits, i made that mistake and paid heaps to get it panted and fitted, plus you still end up with an ok looking kit. I highly recommend spending the money on the kit initially, you will be cheering when it comes time to fit and paint and have it all fit so easily

Thanks for the info.
I misread a post that said the XR foglights are too large for the typhoon slots, thinking it meant headlights.
I send out a request for parts via find-a-part.com.au and a place named "Huge Auto Wreckers" got back to me saying they could do a brand new typhoon body kit for 550 with an undercoat (black)
Freight would be an extra 250 and all i'd need to do is prime it and paint it? And get a set of XR lights which i found on ebay for around $330

Any questions i should ask the wrecker to avoid getting a dodgy kit?

I have used that find a part site before, i didnt really like it all that much because you don't really know who you are talking to (I just got a sense of dodgyness). The 550 for the whole kit or just the front bar? If its the whole kit i wouldnt get it as thats VERY cheap and you will probably have no end of troubles fitting it. If its just for the front bar then thats on the higher end which is good in opinion.

Yeah foglights are probably different story in regards to size. I know my kit is designed for 100mm size lights.

I guess you could ask for pics of the kit before buying. 250 - seems alot for freight, i got my kit originally from Phat Customs (big mistake) in Vic and freight was 95bux to Sydney. Also ask them from their experience with fitting it from others and how they went (obviously you are trusting them to tell you the truth but it cant hurt)

Cheers

The freight is expensive because i live in Mudgee which is in the country, although 250 does still seem a bit much.
The kit is 550 for the whole thing rear, front bar and side skirts. Does also seem dodgy hah.
Im only just ordering 18's for the car now so i will have to wait a while before i can get a kit, but i might look into those ebay ones that fit an XT.

BF GT and Typhoon driving lights are different to XR's.... they are smaller....

Headlights themselves are the same as XR'

I'm still trying to find a set of driving lights for my BF GT bar :( at a reasonable price

BF GT and Typhoon are 90mm lights.. XR's are 120mm I think

hey mate i bought a set of 100mm off ssv for $88 (retail was $120) for my GT kit, they did say it fits their kit so perhaps there are differences between these aftermarket bodykits. I think the lights that came with the first kit (i got from phat customs) were only 75mm, either way they looked dodgy and gave crap light output

After reading lots of threads on people putting body kits on i think ill just be safe and save for a plastic one from SSV.
I looked at some custom kits to suit XT lights but because i have a MKII the lights are different so the kit wouldn't fit anyway.

Good idea mate, however most of the ssv kits for fords are still fibreglass they are just very good quality. It tells you on the site what material it is made out of anyways.
