Hi guys i'm looking for a good aftermarket ECU that works well with the BA 6cyl motor... It will be going in a EF but I need it to run every thing in the BA as I will be putting it in the BA first then will be putting it in the EF.

You can get the various security measures 'flashed' out of the B series ECU's so you can run just the engine.

Another thought is putting the whole box and dice in..... engine trans, dash, loom etc in...
Its alot of work but it can be done..... Mate Nathan (aka Phantom) is doing this on his EF Wagon.... He has been running his MK 1 Version around til it got hit by a truck and now is building up a new shell and doing things better on the MK II version. Even running BA Front suspension and using a AU XR Diff (No Spacers to fit AU wheels)... Its looking real good, wont be long til it hits the road.... Some pics poached from Adelaide Cruizn Fords......

{USERNAME} wrote: yeah but this is just what i want to do.. i have thought about a flash Again why? What is the purpose of doing so? Why throw out something perfectly good for the task? The Ford ECU's are better than all but the absolute best of aftermarket ECUs (and only in features*, the Ford ECU can still run the engine better). But to answer your question, the pre-AU I6 isn't all that complicated and just about anything would run it. AU with VCT, and BA+ with dual-VCT means you need something that can run VCT, or you loose that functionality and it's performance benefits. *things like launch control or anti-lag etc.

All my research shows that using the BA PCM is not only the most effective and superior method, it is also by far the cheapest option. Purchasing the X-Cal 3 flash unit for approx $800 is easily a third cheaper than any aftermarket ECU that can come close to working the variable cams of the BA.
Cheers BenJ

Also remember that there is more than one company doing flash units for the ba pcm.
