Is the 4 speed auto trans behind the 3v V8 the same as the XR8?

Technically no. But in the scheme of things they're close enough.

They both run the 97LE transmission, but the XR8 gets a slightly different solenoid set up.

I won't provide a guarantee, but it should bolt up and work just fine.

The solenoid change, best I can tell is for increased shift pressure (it may be a little stiffer between gears).
