Hi all
I have "inherited" an ED falcon with and ABS fault. Someone else has "been there" so I am a bit concerned at what I will find. The car arrived with a replacement ABS computer in a box and I was told that was the fault. I plugged it in and the light stays on. I tried bridging the diagnosis wires and nothing happens, light stays on. I would be grateful for any information, especially ABS ECU pinouts and or wiring diagram. I believe the ABS relay is the one closest to the engine under the coolant reservoir, please correct me if I am wrong. Also which fuse/s does the ABS use and where are they located. Once again any help would be appreciated.

I would check each wheel sensor and also check the cable from the wheel sensors for breakage..

Also remove the front hubs and also check to see if you have the right tone wheel inside the disc.ED is different to EF/EL i have come across this on an EF having ED ABS discs on the front.

I have solved my problem. The people that had "been there before" had left the ABS pump motor relay off. When I fitted the new relay the light still stayed on however when I was testing pinouts from the ECU plug I noticed on the wiring diagram (I found one) ECU case earth listed so I grounded the case and everything works. (I had only plugged in the replacement ECU and not bolted it to the body in case it was no good). I am used to working on Japanese systems where a case ground is never used or is done by a wire going to a ground point not by a mounting bolt.
The moral of the story, Falcon ABS ECU requires a case ground!!.

Hi All
I spoke to soon, drove the car and within 15 or 20 meters the light came on again.
I have checked the wheel sensors at the ECU plug with a scope and all give the same pattern.
I have check all pinouts and all seem to be in order.
I can not get flash codes by bridging the diagnostic plug (3 from left top, and bottom row).

All this does is put the light out for a while.
I am beginning to suspect a faulty or incorrect ECU but I will get a scan tool hooked up before I confirm this. I guess it could be an incorrect tone wheel or wheels as I don't know its history.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

id be interested in hearing if you find the problem as my check abs light is also on, i havent got around to checking it out yet but.

Yep, mine does the same, has anyone done something to fix it? Mine comes on after going forward for a few meters, then it lights up.

i would think it would be related to the wheel sensors not computer as it moves forward before it lights up i reckon the wheel sensors are clogged up have seen this in Au's especially get some brake clean get in there and spray the heck out of it
