Not too sure if it's the right section to put this. Anyway...
My steering rack I starting to leak a little. I have a complete rebuild kit I got cheap and figure if I can do the job myself I'll save a bit of coin not buying another rack. So I searched and I was surprised I didn't come up with anything... Has anyone rebuilt one themselves, or is there an elusive tech thread I missed? Any help is help.

Its risky doing it yourself first time, there is a seal inside housing that is very hard to get out if you nick housing where it sits in then its stuffed you will have oil leaks. It's not an easy job, get yourself a cheap rack from the wrecker and practice on it
Where is the rack leaking? Is it from the dust cover boots, is it a major leak? It's very common for the pressure switch to leak can look like its leaking from the rack on drivers side. If leak is only minor drain old oil and fill with lucas power steering stop leak, i have had great results on cars with only minor leaks from rack ends |

I was gonna check the pressure switch before endeavouring further, just wanted some input. I sold the switches all day when I worked at repco. That's a good point about the Lucas, I hadn't thought of that. I've heard it's good stuff. Thanks man, might save me some heartache if the Lucas works.
