hi all hoping for some help i recently have taken off my drivers side door trim on my eb fairmont ghia. upon looking inside the door found this rattling around inside then door. i believe it to be for the door key hole courtesy light is that correct? the plug and wire are still intact. there is a plug the same for the key hole light i since have connected the back together. but my question is i think it should be fixed inside the door somewhere but where is the part I'm unsure of?
any help appreciated thanks.

The part is the switch that is mounted to the back of the door handle so when you lift the handle the interior light comes on and so does the key hole light. You can leave it off so that if the car is locked at night and somebody walks along and lifts the handle the interior light wont light turn on.

Yep. Check that when you open the handle it switches the microswitch.
