I had a rear end bingle with a stupid woman driver yesterday coming home from work. She went to go and then hesitated and stopped and I ran str8 up her a$$. She had a mazda metro and the rear hatch door was bent in half pretty bad, but all that was wrong with my EL was a bent number plate (I took it off when I got home and str8'ened it out with a rubber mallet). Good ol falc owned that jap peice of crap in a low speed collision, hate to see who would win in a high speed one. Anyway, since yesterday my right (drivers side) rear brake light won't work when I hit the brakes BUT when I switch on the head lights the right (drivers side ) rear brake light AND normal night driving light come on AT THE SAME TIME!!! Any ideas ? Anyone else had a front end bingle in their EF or EL and has similar problems ? Is that relay near the bonnet catch buggered since my front copped a knock ?

replace the double filament drivers side rear bulb. The shock of the hit has broken one of the wire filaments in the bulb and there shorting out together.

as above, replace the brake light bulbs (Both of them)
And that black looking relay thing is the Airbag crash sensor.

Holy crap I won't be touchin' it again with the battery connected, haha. Cheers.
I've got sdpare bulbs so I'll change them. Strange that relay lookin thing is on the harness that the headlights are on and on the outside of the box it has a simple switching diagram, I really think it's just a relay. Isn't there a pair of crash sensors for the airbag mounted more to the to the frontsides of the vehicle rather than the middle front ? |
