Just a quick question, I have a slight oil leak that exits from the bottom of the sandwich plate, dont know if it the back of the sump gasket or the rear main. Its not bad but leak shows after about 3 to 5 days after cleaning and is about 1 litre every 10,000km at the most. I have noticed the starter motor is a little noisy when it throws out to the flex plate but does not sound like it chews but just the throw and the throwout gear ( dont know the exact name of the part thats thrown out and connects with the flex plate sorry) itself is noisy from the sound of it. Could this be from oil getting on the flex plate or the inside of the starter motor or would it just be the starter motor itself? If its just the starter motor, what starter motors are interchangeable with a 1993 Nc Fairlane Auto 5L?

It will be the starter motor on the way out.
Mine was making a hell of a lot of noise until it finally decided to bundy off one day.
You will need a E series 3 bolt starter motor.
Go and see John at Peachtree Auto Electrical in Penrith. He did mine recently and does excellent work with a good guarantee and is not overly dear.

Based on that fact my Mum is the best around!

So did he rebuild your starter motor or replace it for you? If he rebuilt it how much did he charge?

I have noticed too that even though I have got a brand new Battery ( one week old) there is alot of calcification on the terminals. I had to get another battery about a week ago because it would not start. Could this be from the starter?
