As the title suggests. I have noticed a pool of coolant under my car(EB SXR8) and thought the bottom hose has s**t the biscuit. Changed them all and all was honky dory. Found another pool of coolant under the car yesterday!!!! Crawled under it last night and the water pump is weeping from the mating surface of the pump/timing cover. I am fed up with this PoS money pit and s**t parts for a premium price(pump was a Motorcraft one - installed myself therefore probably not going to get warranty for it...).

I am thinking as a quick fix I am going to smear some sikaflex on the area and stop it. I can't see how it is leaking as I smeared both sides of the gasket with sealant(the orange stuff!!) and was good for 9 months. I replaced the timing cover at the same time so there is no issue with the whole set-up leaking after such a short time. I am pretty well over the issues with this roadkill and will give her one more chance before I ceremoniously burn it in the back yard!!

Any suggestions are welcomed.

PS - I rub my dogs nose in its own mess - I may start doing the same with the EB!!

Well tightened the bolts and they were a smidge under-torqued. However I did find the source of the leak. The weep holes top and bottom were leaking out. I am wayyyy p****d as it is only 9 months old and when I rang Repco, they told me "not our problem". So much for the 12 month/20k warranty they brag about!!! I put some Qwik Metal in the weep holes and will keep it there until I source another water pump.

I am looking at buying another so up for any suggestions from the floor as to a better pump than the poop Repco sell. Forget Motorcraft also as they want a Kings ransom for one($550!! no less).

Repco - another off my Xmas list!

If the pump is leaking out the weep holes, that probably means the shaft seal isn't sealing it anymore. If it's under 12mths or 20,000 kms, it should be repco's problem to at least send it for warranty.

Is there another store within driving range of you? Take it there with your receipt & speak with the manager about it. What will probably happen is you will have to submit it for warranty, and it will be assessed. If found faulty, you should be refunded for the cost of it or given another pump.

Cheers

Already told Repco about it and was told that it wasn't their problem as I installed it. I went to town on them in the shop yesterday and poo-pooed them in front of half a dozen other customers(which I don't normally do)about their warranty. I can't take it back as they said it wasn't installed by a licenced mechanic - go figure!

I cant remove the pump as it is still on the car and it is my driver so out of the question - looking at Ebay now.

Pricks is all I can say - so much for the customer service!

Were you informed verbally or in writing that it needs to be installed by a Mechanic?
First I have heard of this clause (Electronics aside). Fill out an online complaint with ACCC, probably won't help you other than self satisfaction but given enough feedback it may prompt some stern action by them.

Honestly I can't be bothered with following it up - another $150 for another water pump and it will be right as rain. Personally I think I said enough in the shop and the people now know their product is s**t.

New one inbound from Melbourne and a US made item to boot - will do all the hoses too as well as the heater hoses. Gotta be better than the poop on there.

So how'd it go?? Where'd you pick up the $150 pump?

Seriously dude, look at this,

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FMS-M-8501-A50/

It is the pump, timing cover and associated gaskets. Worth every cent and is genuine ford. It fits on our motors with little mods. The water pump pulley will need to be redrilled, or you could fit aftermarket underdrives without any problems. I already had the underdrives with 8 bolt holes so it covered the smaller snout of the pump.
