Heres a tip ANYTHING is "Possible" but it comes down to how deep your pockets are.

Well, mechanically, it would be similar to putting an E Series engine in.
Not sure on the sump config of the old 250 compared to the E Series. The difficulty is that chopping the sump up is not really an option wth the BA-FG engines. Electrically, you will need to use the ECU to match the engine and the relevant emmissions gear to have even a chance of meeting the engineers report that you will need to be legal. I am in the process of putting a BA DOHC into my EB Wagon, and face similar issues. I have only just begun, and have the benefit with the EB of being able to just bolt it in with only minor alterations. Cheers BenJ

For me, doing most of the work myself, the most expensive part of it will be the flash tuner if I end up having to buy one, at $800 roughly.
An engine will be anywhere from $300 to over $1000. If you need to fabricate a new crossmember, relocate steering boxes etc, you will be looking at lots of $$$ You will have to do the research, work out the possible issues, and see if you think it is doable. Cheers BenJ

the FG is probably a better prospect as the pickup in the sump is located at the back again like the older motors, unlike the BA-BF

well its looking out of my price range, but my friend who inherited about 20 grand is looking at doing it now. so heres hoping he decides to do it.

always going to be cheaper if you do the work yourself. worrkshops would charge you an arm and a leg. so much work involved.

mates doing this conversion as we speak (ba motor)
and he had no probs with the engine fit just had to find/work out how to fit up the wiring |
