What's wrong with it and how much $$$ have you got to fix it?

Should be able to get a secondhand motor from a wreckers for a couple of hundred.

But, what's actually wrong with it - you might be able to repair it?

Unless a piston has actualy shot through the side of the block...nothing is un-fixable. How can it be so rooted?

It would/will be slightly more powerful, but I wouldn't say it's worth it when you already have a 4ltr in the EB. Better off spending that $$ on a cam and/or headwork etc to give it a bit more power.

but the XR engine would give him a cam & headwork! the biggest diff between the engines is the heads - the tickford ones have a higher flow rate than the bog stock ones - plus, it has a tickford cam as opposed to a stock one! :P

yeah, from what ive been quoted, sounds about right. but i would say better off to spend a grand and get a new cam and a few though shaved as well, since the head will already be off.

if you going to do that, probably better of to ring a good cylander head shop in your area and deal directly with them, you will be surprised how much you could save. also, probably ditch the ford mechanic, still could save more from a good local.
