Does anyone know of an upgrade / bigger alternator I can use on my Falcon AU 2000 Series II vehicle without modifications?

I have installed two 250 Watt Long range lamps and when its powered up I notice a drag / load placed on the existing alternator.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

the alternator should be a 12V 110Amp by stock if im correct (unless ur a v8 then uve got 130 amps 1560 Watts)

that is 1320Watts

but i believe they do loose power in conversion somewhere but shouldn't be that bad i would think your alternator might be a little bit buggered m8 shouldn't be struggling

might struggle if yove got the sound at full bull and all your lights are on and the power windows are all going up then u might get some struggle but that would be a short temporary thing

i can have EVERYTHING on in my NF and have the power windows going up and the sound at full bull and there isnt a struggle with the alternator and i would only be in the drive way idling

Thanks , read your response, I dont have the problem with power windows, alternator has no struggle with that one.

The engine is a 6 cyl...you're right the battery is stock standard but might have seen better days.

I have had coolant dripping into it from the hose going to the water pump.

Maybe a more heavy duty alternator with the same pully might be the go, but I have no idea of what size or capacity alternator to get that would fit straight in.

Might be wrecking yard job to get a spare alternator maybe?

most wreckers will have a alternator to suit AU

if it were me personally i would get a professionally recod one as alternator failure is hard to detect and can be a pain but one from the wreckers will tell i wouldnt pay to much for it as u can get new ones for not much at all

if the battery has had water on it it may be in the acid making when u have a high load ur completely independent on the alternator

Convert your driving lights to 55watt HID, you wont regret it!

Thanks but too costly for a HID and like to see a few hundred yards to 1/2 kilometer up the road as I do a lot of country road driving , hence 250 Watts each one, total 500 Watts output.
