i already know lowering compression on a turbo charged engine prevents pinging/detonation, but is there more reason, ie: more boost can be ran, or lower boost will make more power with lowered compression?

8.5 is the lowest you should go unless your after 1000 h.p engine..
Having said that 9to 1 with forged pistons and rods makes a NICE quick responsive engine..
I have 7.8 [27cc dish] on my 330 V8 .. Yes it makes more power mid to upper but a good N/A can beat me off the line unless I virtually race it.. It's a manual which doesn't pre spool turbo's .. Rpm doesn't actually spool turbo's...
BUT I must say once spooled up and on power .. The bigger chambers = more bang= more spool = more bang.. You see it multiplies itself... Just takes some time getting going ...
Ok on a revable engine .. A 4.0 imo is best around 8.8 to 9.2.. Up to 350 rwkw..Then add C16 / Avgass on performance ...
Dropping compression is done to have wider tuning envelope where in most cases in std form [quality ??] cast pistons are used..In any case detonation will KILL any forged assembly..
Just takes .004 longer to break !!!
