Hello everyone, Just attempted the repair as detailed by an earlier post (much, much earlier). I hope it has turned out as it should? I took off the leather covered lever head and screwed in the 2x 19mm self tapping screws 7mm from the edge as outlined in the diagram. I also inserted the 2 foam earplugs as suggested in the 2nd and 4th slot. Now the silver plastic button that used to move in and out as you depressed it to change gears is permanently pressed in. It does the job, however I am wondering if this is how the fix is meant to end up? Or have I done something wrong as the silver button will not move at all. Also is this harmful to the transmission in any shape or form? I would appreciate any feedback from other Ford lovers that have done this same repair.
