Hello everyone, Just attempted the repair as detailed by an earlier post (much, much earlier). I hope it has turned out as it should?

did you pull & hold the button out as you wound the T-bar onto the shifter handle thread?
also could be that the screws arent sitting in the channels of the button and are pinning it down instead |

FordFairmont, Once I had taken off the leather covered head and screwed the 2 screws in place they were permanantly fixed. They would not allow the silver button to move at all. Maybe the thickness of the screws were too thick? I am not too disappointed as long as it doesn't cause any problems with the transmission having the button permanently pressing against the selector mechanism.

looks like one or both screws are pressing against the channels under the button
i guess youll just have to have a look which screw/s are fouling and redrill another hole, also use thinner screws |
