the old man has just got himeslef so chrome innder door handles for his au fairmont. just wondering how we would go about fitting them? do you have to take off the whole trim or does the handle just pop out? any help would be appreciated

yeah the trim has to come off. once you remove the trim screws and pop the retaining clips it should just slide forward and free of the handle, the handles on my forte were retained by rivets and had to be drilled out.

I did this mod on my AUII Fairmont and it really gives them a lot more class. Apparently some AU's have the handles riveted in, others have them screwed in. Luckily mine was the latter. Overall not too hard to remove the door trims though. Basically there's a few screws at the bottom and one on the back edge of the door, a bolt behind a circular plug in front of the armrest, another bolt under the power window switches (you gently pry them out), another screw behind the plastic door handle surround (which you also gently pry off) and on the drivers door, you've got to pull the lock button off.

cheers for the help fellas will luck alot classier then the stock black plastic ones he has now.
