If that's the case what is the point of a LWB design other than more boot space? Surely there would be greater interior room, and some interior differences.

Interior is different as per wagons. 1) The front seats will bolt straight up but you will find that you sit higher due to the seat base. 2) Rear seats are what is different. The base will fit straight in as will the centre section of the rear, the 2 fold down sections. What is different is the side bolsters, they are much larger in the Fairlane and wagons than the Short Wheel Base sedans. What a lot of people do is take the covers from the side bolsters of the Fairlane and fit them to the SWB side bolsters, a little bit of tucking and pinning will be required but they can come up looking good with a little effort. PS. james dio, besure of your facts before you give advice, can be very misleading to people. |

There is more leg room in the rear seating area in the LWB vehicles, ie Wagons, Fairlanes, LTD. |

hey mate, ive just done the fairlane seats into a el fairmont last weekend, there is a bit of d**k around, so far the bottom piece fits, just gotta put some muscle into it to push it back that little bit further into locking position, thats easy enough done.
the back pieces are a tad diffrent, from what i can figure, there a tad shorter or longer, either way, as the locking devices hit the lock onto pole thing, theres only 5mil difference in it aprox. for now, ive just removed the locking devices from the back piece of seats an let them sit with out locking in, doesnt affect anything just doesnt lock in. im going drill out some new holes, an move the lock device it self in direction needed to lock onto the pole piece, sorter making it a universal fit really lol. for the side bolsters, well i havnt really had the time to fiddle with them just yet. with some luck this helps

Yeah the side bolsters are the main issue I think. I still haven't resolved, been over a year now, lol.
