ive got my car and its got a gas tank in the boot .... i wanna no .... if it will be ok if i put my subs in the boot with the gas tank .... coz a couple of ppl have said its not good and some have said its ok so im confused

I had a fairlane with a gas tank in the boot and two 12 inch subbies boxed that used to sit in front of it (pointing to the back of the boot) and it never seemed to have any effect.
I can't see how noise or vibrations are going to effect the properties of the gas to make it dangerous.

If anything, i'd be worried more about the current going to the subs and if there was a short circuit there could be a spark. But then again that's pretty rare, and the gas would still be inside the tank.

If your gas tanks leaking you have pro0blems full stop. If there is a spark it shouldn't be a problem, how many cabbies smoke driving LPG cars? Also, the wagon tanks are down lower and towards the back near the exhaust pipe and that - a guy was welding the tip onto my exhaust the other day just near it. |

umm a friend of mine was having his car fitted with subs and amps and the amps were right near the gas tank.....
the installers turned it on booom the amp burst into flames.... lucky it happened where a fire extinguisher was handy!!!

obviously he did something very wrong. My brother has an XF, fairmont ghia, he has 2 15'"s in the back behind his gas tank, everything is wired up properly and hes never had a problem. Performance wise his car is as fast as anything, and sound wise, its just as good.

If you really want subs in your boot, try a floor mounted set up. Utilising the spare wheel well, you can fit two tens (12's at a pinch) or a single 15 int he floor. Amps mount up in the floor as well and with a flush mounted peice of MDF it can all look very nice, and the spare wheel well acts like a sealed enclosure if you do it right. Means you don't have to lose all your boot space either.
It does however mean that your spare wheen gets left at home, but depending on the sort of driving you are doing, a couple of cans of a tyre fixer upperer are usually sufficient to get you to where you want to go.

There is no danger installing subs in a boot with an LPG tank if you follow the direction.
Just double check all connections beofre running the power to the setup. |

That'd be because it's all sealed and that. I'm not encourgaing anyone to take the risk - because there may be one unlcuky sod who gets a leaky tank the same time as a short circuit or something, but chances are minimul. |
