Don't shoot me........ Ok, i did a search and I didn't have a win so i was just wondering if any one can give me the specs on my cam it is a stock one i'm just curious info as follows

Background, 98 XHII 4.0, manual and 3.23LSD and it is a non XR6, it made 130rwkw that isn't big power i know but my mate with an EF with a shaved head on it got 110rwkw on the same dyno same day, so all i could think of was the cam.

this is engraved on the cam: 96DA BA, now 96DA i know what that is but what does the BA stand for?
molded onto the cam: WR 2A 62 50 3
and there seemed to be a 7 stamped on the cam gear end of the shaft any ideas?

if this has been asked before could some one post the link to the thread.

knowledge much appreciated.

The 96DA means that the cam was designed in 1996, which means its an EL specific part, because that's when it came out. 130kW seems like a heap to me, I had an EA with crow cam, extractors, no cat, straight through 2.5" exhaust, CAI, manual and 3.23 LSD and made 125rwkw on 2 different dynos. How much work has the car had done to it, I would be pretty happy with that if I was you!! Does the cam have a splotch of red paint in the center of it, maybe someone dropped in an XR cam, or its a regrind performance cam. You'd have to take it out to check though I think, its usually stamped on the end by the company that does it.

It has no engine work from what i can tell i'm only the third owner before me an older tradesman owned it and hardly drove it and before that Mareba shire councle, there is no red sploch on the end of the cam and no name stamped in either end, i have the head off at the moment did a headgasket (170,000km), i like the power but as you do you want more.

the only mod is a cheap cat back exhaust has a resinator then a straight through glasspack muffler and is dumped at the diff 2.5"

That's cheap power right there then! Nice looking power curve too, mine wasn't anywhere near that smooth on the EA. IMHO 120-130kw is the cheap power, after that it goes way out of proportion, big spends for little gain if you stay N/A. I'm aiming for 170rwkw on the EL which is the same motor as yours as far as I know and I've spent quite a bit already.

If the K's were lower, I'd guess someone put a regrind cam and shaved the head a fair bit for compression when the head-gasket when the first time, but I reckon its probably the first time the head-gasket, plus the previous owner don't seem the sort to do that.

the 96DA stamped on your cam means its a EL Hybrid camshaft. Which mean you have a AU spec head.

Sounds like a Hybrid cam regrind ??
ford-4l-and-6-cylinder-f1/xh-bbm-conversion-t79550.html
Stock XH's run an ED falcon profile cam, 91DA - Feb98 onwards have the same profile, but suit the Hybrid/AU style rocker gear.
I suppose easiest way to check for a regrind while the rocker gear is off is to see if there are two spacers in each lifter hole in the rockers (that's provided the install was done properly), with a std billet there is one.

Thanks snap, just read through the thread you posted, mine is the 6250 B cam but it also has an A engraved next to the B does that mean anything or it is just a 6250 B?

Well if you want more power get the au1645 cam.
Ive got it and its tops. good around cam and if you get it with 114 lobe separation it will have around the same low down as standard. but much more up top.

Im using an EA std cam in my ED 4.0.....with a 3.9 head...makes 150rwkw....204.5rwhp.

The std EA cam has more exhaust duration than a std ED 4.0 cam
