ive been reading on another website that the EF/EL cam is the same as a ED xr6 cam, just hasnt got the lumpy idle, and theres little gain from standard cam to the tickford one because theres not much power difference from the standard falc to the xr and everything thats done is only small upgrades, exhaust, cam, valve size fuel pressure regulater, and small computer work,

yes. but only if your EL isn't a Hybrid EL. Hybrid motors have an AU cam and rocker gear

yes its a standard el inline6 - 1996 model - i had problems with old ecu so purchased a hybrid ecu - but the block and head are standard el.... so im thinking from the feedback it will bolt straight in....

im getting extractors in a month - the cold air intake is on and breathin fine - would it be worth the exercise to install ed xr6 cam or would the gain be so small it would not be worth it ????? hate to waste time but for $60 its seems a viable modification....... what do you think ..???

^^ My thought's too - a step backwards if anything, cam won't be matched to ECU or the Broadband manifold. Rocker cover's a waste of time too.

if it was a standard EA-ED it'd be worth it. but not an EL. try find a EF/L XR cam and rocker cover

i was reading in a jim mock article that the el cam was the same as the ed xr6 but without a lumpy idle.. Now im confused - it would not go in ?????? i was not chasing massive gains in kw if any . just thought it would sounds slightly better and the red rocker cover would set off the engine bay ? but if the camshaft would not even be matched and not idle or run its probably not worth it... any help appreciated - have searched net for info if this would work - not much out there - surely someone has done it....

all e series xr6 cams are the same, there is no difference,, specs, cam timing and lift are the same...
and no factory xr6 cams have lumpy idle.. it will fit and run fine, there is just not much to gain from using them... an aftermarket cam is a much better option... |
