Well having the B&M cooler i bought never making it into my bf due to the heat exchanger making things hard i've decided to put it into the uterus as it's had a much harder life and more yet to come. Also making the radiators internal heat exhanger obsolete is another reason for this. The ute will be getting a 5 speed (read: joy) thrown in later down the track but i want to test this theory for my bf without endangering the bf as i've never sailed these waters before.
The basic setup utilises an 11'x8' B&M oil cooler, under 2 meters of 3/8 trans line,8 inch thermo with shroud & a self built controller for temp sensing and fan control. And i want to jam all this up under the tray just to be different, that and i cbf'd pulling the xr front end off just to clutter up the front bar even more. Pics will follow soon when i finish fabricating the ally fan shroud & cooler mounts. While i have my switching mostly sorted by a 1200'c controller & readout with adjustable hysterisis for fan control, i'm trying to decide wether it would be better to have the sensor before or after the cooler. The sensor will be mounted in the oil send/return line, whichever i find is more efficient. And how big of a range of operating temp (high & low,min & max) should be used, i'm trying to keep it as narrow as possible for consistency. And most importantly picking a magic temperature which is a 'perfect' running temp. Knowing next to nothing about autos doesn't help me in the slightest and neither do auto mechanics who know your capable of doing the work yourself. So at the moment i'm taking a rough stab at 100-150'c. Am i in the right area ?
