As the title suggests, I suspect there is something staying on in the car when it is turned off. What is the procedure for identifying if there is a current draw from the battery when the ignition is off?

Can someone in Mod land introduce a section specifically for body electricals as it can be a pain in the a*** trying to work out what section to fit an electrical issue under when its not got anything to do with the ECU or the engine. Cheers.

disconnect your negative terminal. put the red wire of a multimetre on the negative pole of your battery and the black wire on the negative cable on your car. set the multimetre to amps.

a good current draw is about 0.2amps afaik. let it sit connected for a few minute to let all the computers shut down etc

So if its .3A or more then somethens up? Ive got a sneaky suspicion its the boot light.

yeh most likely. fold the back seat down and have the boot close. see if it stays on

Its been progressively getting worse though. Last week id get maybe three days of leaving the car in the driveway and then getting in to go somewhere on the thrid day and not having enough juice to turn the motor to now less than one day, even after being on the charger for 8 hrs. Its either a draw or the near new battery is f**k.

As a sidenote, I have the higher series cluster in my dash with the oil press, volt gauge, fuel, temp, tach and speed. The volt gauge spends a lot of time not registering anything, but when you bash the dash it pops up to around 13.5v. Whats likely to be the cause of that and how do I fix it?

13.5v is a bit low. test your alternator charge when the engine is running.

the sticky volt gauge. it'll be the cluster that need changing

Its usually around 13.5, if ya bash it again it might drop to 12 or it might go past 14v.

well you need to replace the dash cluster. and still check your alternator charge

Bastardboot light was staying on, anyone know how to adjust the switch (and where it is exactly) for the boot light in an eb2 sedan?

On ED its integrated in the boot lock... it has three wires... two do the solenoid (one switched power the other earth) and the white wire does the light... You'll have to replace the whole lock assembly... I don't think it comes apart... Try unplugging it to start, if you unplug it and the light goes out its the lock, if not its the loom from the light to the lock is damaged and earth out somewhere...

I just pulled the bulb out. Im usually inside at night time. Its too dark.
