G'day all,
I have been looking high and low through ford mods (and everywhere else for that matter) for a decent spread of CAI ideas and setups for the ef/el 5.0 litre and can only seem to find the same few options ie. SS induction, growler, etc. Im very keen to see what sort of snorkels you guys are using because, having just switched from a fairly light footed el xr6, it's becoming pretty obvious to me that ford did all they could to choke the 302 down (crap heads, headers and intake manifold etc.) and the pissy little snorkel is no exception. Pictures would be great and much appreciated fellas |

i bought one of those smallish supercheap bonnet scoops like you see on s**t corollas etc.
i turned it up side down and riveted it to the front bar behind the number plate then i ran some flexi ducting up to where the factory air intake is. have a squizz in my gallery at the my red ef. its the same setup but with upside down bonnet scoop instead of the piece of black pipe

Thanks guys. Very helpfull. SIC-XR8 thats a beast Now in terms of filters, I know alot of argueing goes on here about which is better, pod or panel filter, but I get the impression that the pod is favoured more by the I6 folk and vice versa. I guess what I wanna know is, with all things being equal, which am I more likely to get better flow from, a k&n Pod or k&n panel???

Read this article and the preceding pages. Air filters of any type do VERY little to restrict air flow. Save your money and do this mod. Cost, maybe 10-15 bucks!

I did the mod this afternoon using some four inch flexi pipe I had laying around. I just had to move one of the horns over and cut a hole through the lower plastic ducting and through the top garnish panel. All up about an hour's work to get it looking neat and tidy.
I've only been for a quick drive but there is definitely an improvement in throttle response. The car also needed less throttle when cruising along at suburban speeds. The positive pressure added right in front of the XR8 intake snorkle can be felt quite easily. Forget cutting holes in airbox (factory one flows well anyway), K&N/pod filters and crap, do this mod!
