Am i able to use a different type of trans say a c4 or fmx in my 92 5.0 with smart lock and efi?
My one appears to need a bit of work. I've got a workshop manual so i was also thinking of giving the current trans a bit of a service and adjust bands etc to see if that clears the problem. Are these trans easy to work on or are they a bugger? Looks easy enough in the book but then most stuff looks and sounds easy in them and then it turns into a night mare hahaha |

OK so i took it for another drive and it isn't changing past 2nd. if i manually change it wont select 2nd but once its put in 3rd or d its OK but doesn't get 3rd or 4th.
would this be the selector or the solenoids? i guess either way the box has to come out. Can i run a c4 or fmx type trans behind my 5.0 with smart lock if this trans is stuffed?? |

yes, you can fit a c4 or similar..
the trans is controled by the ecu, but has no effect on smartlock ect.. there is a possability you may need a j3 chip to change the ecu into a manual ecu so the auto ecu dont go into limp mode or torque safe mode... |

Are the standard trans reasonably easy to work on or is it best left to the pros?
Where would i find parts such as solenoids etc? |
