Hi Guys
I have done some searching and reading of older topics and found a really good one yesterday but for the life of me can't find it today! Anyways I am just wondering what your thoughts are on fitting a cooler thermostat or the same temp stat but a high flow version. I am going to be fitting under drives and there is a mix of people saying fit an 82 degree when you do others saying dont worry about. I know the standard ford thermo is set to 91 degrees so i was just after some opinions. I found this high flow stat which apparently gives 30% more flow while still opening at 91 degrees http://cgi.ebay.com.au/TRIDON-HIGH-FLOW ... 27b4747333 While the link is for a BA this is in relation to a BF Falcon - is there actually a size difference? im not very smart but if its higher flow once it opens the water flows through faster meaning less time to cool the water when its in the raditator? meaning harder to get cool once your stuck in traffic

A higer flowing thermostat will help to reduce the actual flow problem. |

Actually a high flow 91 degree unit.
The idea is to keep the operating temp of the engine the same. Since you are reducing flow by slowing down your water pump then you must reduce the restriction in the cooling system to maintain the flow. Switching point has jack all to do with it. Fitting a colder thermostat is done in the same vain as a rising rate fuel regulator, just one big compromise. |

Oh ok, thanks mate, so I guess that ebay link in the OP is the one to go for then 91 degree and 30% more flow
