Wasn't sure were to put this but here i go
My EB keeps blowing fusible links. First time it did it was about 3 weeks ago, turns out my thermo trigger wire had come off so i was sitting in traffic and the temp gauge got right up near the hot. Light went green, swung into a car park, put the wire back on and i was sitting there letting the car cool down when POP, car stalled and a s**t load of smoke come from the fusible link underneath the coolant bottle. i didn't know that at the time though. spent about half an hour looking around there. ended up getting like 5 of those links just in case from the wreckers. anywho i replaced it, and the ignition relay too (cooked that too) and it started. been fine until last night, pulled out my driveway, drove 50 metres up the road and it died and that nasty burnt smell come back, first thing i checked was that same link and surely enough it had popped. i had a look around for bare wires of something that may have been earthing out but couldn't see much as it was dark. so i changed the fusible link tried starting it and it popped it straight away. Tried one more but this time it was okay so i went straight home. Now i only have one of the 5 left. And this time it didn't pop the ignition relay. Sorry about the long post but what do you guys think?

i recon uve wired something to that circuit that is pulling more amps that it should... maybe ur thermos they pull 60amps and cook everything if they arent relay'd

the fusible links are down beside the battery in the ED... Sure they are under the head tank on yours?
Which colour link is blowing (3 sets usually each with 2 links (6 total))? Two black sets (40amp or something like that) one double set is a parallel path from the alt to the battery The other black set, one link feeds "Engine" items the other feeds "ignition" powered items... The other set which is a blue plug and has a red and green link, green link feeds fuel pump (via green relay under header tank), red link feeds the EEC system (Via brown relay under the header tank)... There is also a red fuse (not a link) under the head tank which is the power to the hego sensor... Power goes through IGN black link, through barrel to the hego fuse (pink under header tank) and then powers the hego... What exactly is the problem and I may be able to help a little more... We'll start with: Do your fans come off their own fuse off the battery post (not through a link)? Cheers, Tim

it's the one that feeds the ignition relay. because the ignition relay fired the first time the fusible link popped. the thermos get the power straight from the battery via there own fusible link. it just get's an ignition signal off the ISC.

If your relays are up under the header tank, I'd be looking seriously hard for a wire that is shorting there.

nah the thermo relays are attached to the airbox. the factory relays are under the overflow of course

believe i just found the problem. gas solenoid trigger wire get's it's power from the ISC. the wire has rubbed bare and is sitting bare on the intake manifold. there are arch marks on the manifold. i'll tape it up and see how i go!

Interesting. Here's hoping it solves the issue. Cheers ToranaGuy
