Hi,
I've been sent a Bosch fuel pump with a Snort performance kit I bought recently and I was trying to install it over the weekend. It look radically different to the stock one. Has anyone got any tips for how I should be progressing with this fuel pump? I am trying to get hold of Geoff from Snort to make sure he sent me the right one, but he is damn hard to actually reach on the phone!   Cheers, |

it will go, ive put them on the stock bracket before with clamps, you need to cut the bottom off the bracket, and also break away the plastic baffle on the bottom of the tank, also dont run too low on fuel as it will suck air earlier than the stock pump/

Okay thanks man.
I'll chop him up when I get back. For the clamp, do you mean a hose clamp? I'll pick one up to do it. As for the baffle, do you mean the orange box in the bottom of the tank? Or is there a baffle right at the bottom i didn't see? Whats the reasoning behind removing that? Sorry I'm asking dumb questions, i just am in really new territory for myself here. Cheers, Nic |

Yeah a hose clamp, or even large (wide) cable ties will be fine.
The baffle - yeah the orange box/tub in the tank, as the pump wont fit in properly with it as it is (well i found anyway). |

Brett,
Cheers for the help mate, got it in and sorted today. For anyone else who's interested, i need a 5/16" barb fitting put in the end of the pump and then used a small length of in-tank efi fuel hose (<2") andsome hose clamps to join it to the cradles line. Cut the bottom off the cradle, hose clamp and she was apples. Ended up removing the orange baffle too. Geoff from Snort reckons he can get them to fit but i was struggling on that one |

Did you end up getting some pictures of the finished product? Im currently doing this too and was hoping for some insight?

just make sure you dont run too low on fuel, due to the angle of the pump it will pick up air a lot earlier

Did you remove the screw on fitting and install a brass fitting or did you use the one that was provided as Im trying to work it out that it can be mounted straight up and down rather than on a slant?

took out the screw in fitting and replaced it with the barb.
and yeah, as brett said, don't run too low on fuel, it'll run out of love if you do! ha ha. |

bit below quarter tank, hooking around a LH corner was enough to make it cut out until i straightened up on the road.
Still drove good in a straight line like that though, just when it washed up the sides around the corner. |

Hey Nicco,
Don't know if you know , but the screw you removed from your pump and replaced with a barb, is a check valve,that keeps pressure in the fuel line up to the fuel regulator. Is your car running ok with the new pump? |

Definitely just a barb.
The car is a bit hard to start though after it's been sitting a while. you might be onto something! ha ha

Hey,
I'm doing the same thing with my pump, but I'm getting a brass fitting with a hose fitting end. Just out of curiousity, the EA fuel pump holder has a steel bracket that holds the pump in place. Should go over the ribbed section of the pump and it bolts down to secure it in place. Thought you might be interested. Regards |
