i got mine from supercheap, each can set me back about $10-$20, cant really remember how much exactly but its a nice way to make the engine bay stick out, and definately worth doing, i think mine is very similar to the AU if it isn't actually an AU 1

$20x2 of duplicolor paint, $2 of sandpaper (just a bit to polish), and a whole lotta time!
ok so the pics.






now it wasnt all easy either. the tape i used for masking while sanding the embossed sections ended up leaving this terrible glue on the paint.. so the only way to get it off was turps... so it took the paint off too... so i had to re-spray the top.
other than that i have one tip for people wanting to do this too. is to paint the metalcast coat, then the top coat. and instead of sanding back (which i found also chips some bits in the paint), just use turps to take the colored layer off. it was much gentler on the edges. and just took it to the metal cast coat looks primo!
next step i guess is getting a new overflow bottle. that brown color aint doing it any justice!

Ahh i hate this job, even with paint stripper and a few beers it sucked :'(

powder coating is cheap as. some places might have a minimum cost. the local guys out here have done heaps of engine parts for my old car. it had a 351 in it and i got both the rocker covers and the air cleaner and power steering/alternator brackets done and it only cost me $80. i even had my 6 drawer toolbox redone and that only cost me $60. i would say a rocker cover alone might be around the $40-50 but why not pull a few extra bits off and get them all done to match? inlet manifold, throttle body etc etc..
