Hey
I have a EF Fairmont and i have a issue with my steering wheel. I find that when im driving, the wheel is able to move left and right slightly without actually moving the wheels while driving. Im wondering if it is possible to actually tighten the steering wheel in some way?? Thank you Daniel |

Ok thanks
Is this easy to change? So your saying there doesnt seem to be an issue with the actual wheel that i could fix myself inside the car? Cheers |

i would say its a worn intermediate shaft / uni joints that connect column to rack...

depends if ur got a press for the ball joints but tie rods are pretty easy to change over. this means any work done to the suspension will need a wheel alignment.

If the car is stationary and the engine NOT running, is there any free play without the wheels moving? If there is, then it is the intermediate shaft. Should cost around $25-$40 from a wreckers and take about 30 mins to change over. If you need instructions, let me know as i have done a few of these

it could also be the rack ends. get someone to help and with the car stationary, rock the steering wheel back and forward while looking under the car at the rack and see if there is any movement
