its starts, but takes a while, its probably what i think it is. but i wanna get an opinion, it wouldnt be worth forking out money for something it didnt need, right? right... when its left sitting overnight, for an hr etc its starts ok... i guess, could be better but the main problem im having is that ( ill explain it how i is) you go to turn it on, the dash lights up, needles all go up, then i turn it.. bbbrr, sounds like its trying to turn.. the lights go dim, the needles sink. but then 1 second later, its starts straight up. is the battery f****d? cant hold enough charge to turn it over very good? its 5 yrs old. i dont think its the starter, no clicking or winding, but those die slowly do. would caked up terminals? or not earthing properly cause this. thanks, much appreciated. |

most likely dying battery. But before you go out and buying a new battery, I would try cleaning the terminals and making sure all main earth cables have good contact.
Lights should dim a little when you start the car up, but if the car doesn't start within the second it will go dimmer. How long does it take for the engine to start? It could also be your coil on it's way out...so the car won't start straight away but will take a while and more juice to start the car. In saying that, you do have a 5 year old battery.
